We’ve seen the Nokia Lumia 530 in leaks before, and now Microsoft has just made the smartphone official. The successor to the Lumia 525 and the highly-popular Lumia 520, the latest offering is also a budget device. In true Lumia style, the 530 features changeable rear shells and will come in multiple hues including bright orange, bright green, white and dark grey. The smartphone will come in both single SIM and dual-SIM versions.
The Lumia 530’s window to the world is its 4-inch display, sporting a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels and a pixel density of 246ppi. The firepower is provided by a quad-core Snapdragon 200 chip clocked at 1.2GHz, which is paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. You can add up to 128GB more via microSD. A 5-megapixel fixed focus snapper handles photography, but it skimps on a front camera – so no luck if you’re looking to make video calls. The connectivity options cover all the usual, including 3G, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and GLONASS. The show is powered by a 1,430mAh battery that promises a talk time of 10 hours on 3G and a standby time of 22 days.
The underlying platform is Redmond’s latest, i.e., Windows Phone 8.1, and the device is loaded with all the software goodness Nokia has to offer. The refreshed mobile OS offers Action Center, the Word Flow keyboard and the Cortana voice assistant (where available). The handset also comes loaded with Microsoft Office, but Nokia also throws in apps like MixRadio,Nokia Camera, Glam Me, and HERE Drive +.
