The Samsung Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit which were introduced in India last month are finally available for sale via the Samsung India eStore. The Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are refreshed editions of the original Galaxy Gear smartwatch, launched last year. The Samsung Gear Fit is a fitness band.
The Gear Fit comes with a 1.84-inch curved Super AMOLED display. It is equipped with an accelerometer, gyroscope and heart rate sensor. It connects to smartphones using a low-energy Bluetooth 4.0 connection. Samsung claims that it offers 2-3 days of battery life on normal usage. It also allows users to control basic functions of their phones like rejecting a call, quick replying to messages and controlling alarms.
Samsung has ditched Android for the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo in favour of its own Tizen platform, making them compatible with a wide variety of Samsung devices. Both watches offer almost similar specifications, but the Gear 2 Neo misses a camera. Both smartwatches feature a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display and come with a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage and a 300mAh battery with 2-3 days of runtime. Other features include a heart rate monitor, pedometer and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. All of the Samsung wearables are IP67-certified for water and dust resistance. The Galaxy Gear 2 is priced at Rs 21,550, while the Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit are both available for Rs 15,450. The devices were launched alongside the Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship, due to go on sale starting April 11
